Despite the fall of the two wickets, Sri Lanka are carrying on strong here. They are quickly stitching a partnership here while progressing the momentum provided by the openers. Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva are on the crease and they eye to go big.
SL 97/2 (20)
Dhananjaya de Silva departs after playing a scratchy knock. He was looking to be cautious but falls in the trap of Adil Rashid. Liam Dawson's maiden over creates pressure and Adil Rashid traps de Silva next over. Kusal Mendis, meanwhile, carries on and is looking good.
Kusal Mendis remains stranded at one end as Sri Lanka keep losing wickets from the other. It is the spinner again who strikes for England, only it is Rehan Ahmed this time. A bizarre dismissal as Charith Asalanka's failed sweep comes off his helmet and lobs to Harry Brook positioned at leg slip.
Some quality cricket on display on Kusal Mendis as he completes his half-century and carries on the momentum in the Sri Lanka innings. Despite wickets tumbling at the other end, he has not flinched and is eyeing another partnership with Janith Liyanage after completing his half-century.
SL 169/4 (36)
Kusal Mendis carries on at one end, anchoring the innings. He is ticking the scoreboard and at the same time finding crucial boundaries. Janith Liyanage at the other end, has taken the aggressive route more often. The partnership is working for Sri Lanka and they look to extend it.
Janith Liyanage gets foxed by the googly from Adil Rashid and loses his wicket. Didn't pick it from his hand and ends up lobbing it straight back to the hands of the bowler. Kusal Mendis meanwhile, nears his century and he aims to give his side a strong finish with only five overs remaining in the innings.
Some solid power-hitting from Dunith Wellalage. He finds the boundary three times and with it, Sri Lanka reach a competitive 271/6 which will challenge England. Kusal Mendis stays unbeaten on 93 after keeping the innings together for the entirety. Adil Rashid was the pick of the England bowlers with three wickets.

ENG 151/3 (35)
England are collapsing all of a sudden and the target looks elusive to them right now. Joe Root and Ben Duckett are now regretting their shot selection. Charith Asalanka's loopy delivery got Harry Brook stumped and since then it has been all downhill for England. Dunith Wellalage struck twice, first dismissing Jacob Bethell and then Sam Curran. Sri Lanka are now ahead in the game.
ENG 168/6 (40)
Rehan Ahmed will have to depart after an impactful cameo due to an incredible grab taken by Dunith Wellalage. Rehan Ahmed tries to loft the ball from Jeffrey Vandersay over long-off, but Wellalage there grabs the ball, lobs it up and comes back into the playing field to complete the catch. England in further trouble now.
ENG 203/7 (45)
Jamie Overton's late fight comes to an end. Goes for the big shot against Pramod Madushan but miscues it completely. The extra cover fielder settles to take the catch.
