Hello and welcome to our final live blog of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The final match of the season is being played between Vidarbha and Saurashtra at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1, Bengaluru on Sunday.
The Saurashtra Vs Vidarbha, Vijay Hazare Trophy final will be telecast on Star Sports in India. It will be live streamed on the JioHotstar app and website in the country.
Saurashtra won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Saurashtra: Harvik Desai(w/c), Vishvaraj Jadeja, Prerak Mankad, Sammar Gajjar, Chirag Jani, Ruchit Ahir, Parswaraj Rana, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Ankur Panwar, Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya
Vidarbha: Atharva Taide, Aman Mokhade, Faiz Mohammad Sheikh, Ravikumar Samarth, Rohit Binkar(w), Yash Rathod, Nachiket Bhute, Harsh Dubey(c), Parth Rekhade, Yash Thakur, Darshan Nalkande
Unadkat begins from over the wicket to Taide, good length outside off, left alone wisely. Vidarbha start cautiously with the final still very much in the balance.
A steady, watchful over from Unadkat. Taide shows patience, letting the good-length balls go, while Mokhade rotates strike with a gentle single off the last delivery. No risks taken, just a safe start for Vidarbha as they move to 25 without loss, laying a calm foundation in this big final.
Another tidy over keeps Vidarbha firmly in control. Just three runs added as Taide and Mokhade continue to value their wickets, moving to 46 without loss with a solid, patient opening stand in the final.
Ankur Panwar finally breaks the solid opening stand as Aman Mokhade drags a cut shot back onto his stumps, departing for a well-made 33. Yash Rathod arrives and plays cautiously, defending his first delivery before getting off the mark via a leg-bye.
Atharva Taide remains composed, blocking and leaving with assurance, while Panwar keeps things tight with a disciplined over. Just two runs come from it, and Vidarbha move to 81/1, with Saurashtra gaining some much-needed momentum in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final.
Atharva Taide (70 not out) continues to go from strength to strength, tonking Dharmendrasinh Jadeja for a six as Vidarbha take 12 runs off the 24th over, the most in the innings so far. His partnership with Yash Rathod (11 not out) is now worth 42, and Saurashtra badly need Taide's scalp to wrest the initiative again.
The second-wicket stand is getting worrisome for Saurashtra now. Yash Rathod (31 not out) is set too, and Atharva Taide (93 not out) is on the verge of his century. If a wicket does not fall in the next five-odd overs, Vidarbha would be well on course for a 320-plus total: a daunting target to chase in a final.
Atharva Taide brings up a superb hundred with a controlled pull, raising his helmet to acknowledge the applause. Vidarbha move to 179/1, with Taide and Rathod continuing to build steadily in the final.
A composed over keeps Vidarbha ticking along. Taide and Rathod bring up their 100-run partnership with a gentle single, underlining the stability they’ve provided. Taide then rotates strike smartly, while Unadkat’s slower balls deny any easy boundaries. Just three runs come from the over, but Vidarbha move confidently to 182/1, with Taide holding firm on 103
A standing ovation for Atharva Taide as his magnificent knock comes to an end. Panwar nails a yorker, Taide tries to chip it over the infield but only manages a mistimed lob, and Prerak Mankad runs back to take a safe catch. Taide departs for a superb 128, anchoring Vidarbha’s innings in the final. Despite the wicket, Vidarbha move to 213/2, with a strong platform firmly in place.
A crucial over for Saurashtra as Chirag Jani strikes just after Rathod’s fifty, trapping him plumb in front with one that skids on. Faiz Mohammad Sheikh walks in and gets off the mark with a single, while Samarth keeps things ticking with a punch to sweeper cover. Nine runs and a big wicket from the over as Vidarbha move to 239/3, setting up an interesting finish in the final.
Another big blow for Vidarbha as Chirag Jani strikes again dismisses Samarth R on 25. Samarth is done in by the slower one, closes the bat face early and chips it straight back, and Jani reacts brilliantly to take a sharp return catch.
Another eventful over for Saurashtra. Panwar removes Harsh Dubey with a sharp pull finding Prerak Mankad at deep mid-wicket, a superb low catch under pressure. Faiz responds with a boundary to long-off and keeps the scoreboard moving with quick singles, while Bhute survives a couple of testing deliveries. Seven runs and a wicket from the over as Vidarbha move to 288/5, setting up a strong finish in the final.
Chaos at the death as Chetan Sakariya rips through Vidarbha’s lower order. Bhute falls to a stunning running catch by Sammar Gajjar, Binkar briefly finds a boundary before mistiming another slower ball to backward point, and Vidarbha suddenly lose two wickets in the over. Rekhade survives a close run-out chance to end it. Just five runs and two wickets come from the over as Vidarbha slip to 301/8, losing momentum badly in the final stretch.
A big final over for Vidarbha. Nalkande goes on the attack with a boundary and a towering six, while a couple of wides help boost the total. Sixteen runs come from it as Vidarbha finish strongly on 317/8, setting a challenging target in the final.
Innings Break.
Harvik Desai and Vishvaraj Jadeja are in the middle, with Desai on strike as Yash Thakur prepares to begin the spell.
The Saurashtra new-ball bowlers, Nachiket Bhute and Yash Thakur, both strike early to rattle Vidarbha's chase. Harvik Desai (20) and Vishvaraj Jadeja (9) are both caught behind to leave the chasing side in a spot of bother. Prerak Mankad and Sammar Gajjar currently in the middle, with a job to do.
Prerak Mankad (17 not out) and Sammar Gajjar (23 not out) are batting sedately, which though is rebuilding the innings, but also pushing the required run rate up. It's more than seven an over at the moment, and Saurashtra need to keep it in check in a high-pressure game like this.
In Indore, India have their backs against the wall against New Zealand in the deciding third ODI. The hosts have lost four top-order wickets in pursuit of a 338-run target. Virat Kohli has got to his fifty and is still battling on, and alongside him is young Nitish Reddy.
Prerak Mankad (58*) and Chirag Jani (21*) have stitched an ongoing 31-run stand for the 5th wicket. Parswaraj Rana (7) was the last batter to get out, he was castled by Nachikant Bhute. SAUR still need 175 runs to win in 23 overs.
The fifth wicket stand between Prerak Mankad (74*) and Chirag Jani (29*) has now reached to 66 runs. However, SAUR still have an uphill task at hand as they need 140 runs more to win in just 102 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
Saurashtra suffered a huge blow in the third ball of the 38 over when they lost the key wicket of Prerak Mankad for 88. Harsh Dubey was the bowler, who got the priced scalp for Vidarbha. SAUR now need 101 runs in the last 10 overs with 5 wickets in hand.
Chirag Jani is Out! With this most probably the hopes of Saurashtra to clinch their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title. Darshan Nalkande is the bowler, who got the priced wicket of Chirag for 64. SAUR now need 61 runs to win in 30 balls.
Harsh Dubey traps Chetan Sakariya in front of wickets and with it Saurashtra's innings comes to an end for 279 runs. Vidarbha win the final by 38 runs to clinch their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title. Yash Thakur and Nachiket Bhute pick four and three wickets respectively to bundle SAUR for 279 and win the title.
In Indore, Virat Kohli breath taking century goes in vain as New Zealand beat India by 41 runs in the 3rd ODI to clinch their first ODI series win in India. Earlier, Daryl Mitchell (137) and Glenn Philips (106) slam centuries to take NZ to 337 from 58/3. Check out the highlights of the match here.
That's a wrap from our end. We'll meet soon with another blog soon, until then, bye bye.
