Mailson, Mohammed Mahzari, Mohammed Al-Dosari, Waleed Al-Ahmed, Muteb Al-Mufarrij, Mishaal Al-Alyan, Ashraf Al-Badawi, Victor Hugo, Angelo Fulgini, Mohammed Al-Aql, Roger Martinez
Al Taawoun go with a balanced XI, with Mailson in goal and a steady back line in front of him. Victor Hugo and Ashraf Al-Badawi anchor midfield, while Angelo Fulgini adds creativity. Roger Martinez leads the attack as their main goal threat.
Booking for Al-Nassr. Saad Al Nasser goes in late on Mohammed Mahzari and catches him with a heavy challenge. The referee has no hesitation in pulling out a yellow card, a clear warning early in the game. Al Nasser will now have to be careful for the rest of the match to avoid a second booking.
So close for Al-Nassr! Cristiano Ronaldo does brilliantly to control the ball and drive into the box before unleashing a right-footed shot, but Maílson is equal to it with a sharp save. A big moment as the keeper denies the Portuguese star, who’ll feel he should’ve buried that, still goalless.
The tempo drops as the game gets scrappy late in the first half. João Félix is pulled up for an attacking foul on Muteb Al Mufarrij, halting another Al-Nassr move just as they looked to build pressure. Al-Nassr continue to see plenty of the ball and control possession, but they’re struggling to find that final pass or clean finish in the Al-Taawoun box, with the visitors holding firm defensively.
Al-Nassr take the lead. Mohammed Al Dossary turns the ball into his own net under pressure, handing the hosts a breakthrough just before the break. A cruel moment for Al-Taawoun after holding firm, and Al-Nassr suddenly have the edge at Al-Awwal Park as halftime approaches.
It’s been a tight contest, but Al-Nassr head into the break with the advantage after an own goal from Mohammed Al Dossary. The hosts have controlled large spells but haven’t had it all their way, with Al-Taawoun staying organised and competitive. Still plenty to play for in the second half.
Second half underway at Al-Awwal Park. Al-Nassr restart with a narrow lead courtesy of Mohammed Al Dossary’s own goal, and they’ll look to build on their control from the first half. Al-Taawoun, still very much in this, come out with intent, knowing one moment can bring them level. Game back on in this Matchday 18 clash.
Huge double chance for Al-Nassr! They break at pace as João Félix slips a perfect pass through to Sadio Mané, but his right-footed shot crashes off the post. The rebound phase stays alive and Kingsley Coman gets up for a strong header inside the box, only for Maílson to produce another sharp save. Al-Nassr piling on the pressure, but still can’t find that second goal.
First substitutions for Al-Nassr. Jorge Jesus rings the changes, bringing on Nawaf Boushal and Ali Al-Hassan in place of Saad Fahad Al Nasser and Abdullah Al-Khaibari. A clear attempt to refresh the midfield and regain control as the hosts look to lift the tempo.
Late change and another big chance! Sadio Mane makes way for Abdulelah Al-Amri as Al-Nassr shuffle things late on. Moments after, Joao Felix feeds Cristiano Ronaldo on the edge of the area, and he gets a left-footed shot away, but Maílson is alert again, making a solid save to keep the scoreline tight.
Full-time at Al-Awwal Park! The referee brings it to an end and Al-Nassr come away with the win, thanks to that decisive own goal from Mohammed Al Dossari. A tight contest throughout, but the hosts did enough to edge it in this Round 18 clash.
