We’re underway at Aspmyra! Manchester City, in their dark green kit, get the game rolling from left to right as Bodo/Glimt line up in bright yellow. A tactical tweak already stands out: Ait-Nouri slots in at right-back, while the versatile Nico O’Reilly takes up the left-back role. Early positional switches hint at Guardiola’s flexible approach tonight.
A big let-off for City! Reijnders is caught in possession inside his own box, but Høgh hesitates instead of shooting first time and sees his effort blocked. It’s been an open, lively start, City enjoying their usual spells on the ball, yet Bodo’s aggressive press is already forcing mistakes. This doesn’t look like a game heading for a dull goalless draw.
Bodo/Glimt strike first. Haaland’s loose touch sparks the break, Blomberg muscles past Khusanov and clips in a perfect cross, and Kasper Høgh sneaks a header through Donnarumma’s legs at the near post. Completely against the run of play, but the home crowd couldn’t care less.
Bodo/Glimt stun City again Ait-Nouri is caught out as the hosts break at pace, the cross is fizzed in, and Kasper Høgh has all the time in the world to rifle into the top-right corner. Donnarumma has no chance. Haaland and City look completely shell-shocked at Aspmyra.
Bodo/Glimt come agonisingly close to a third. Hauge ghosts in at the near post from a tight angle and stabs a shot straight into Donnarumma’s midriff on the line, with City surviving another huge scare.
City win another corner after Reijnders smashes it off a Bodo defender. They go short, Haaland screaming for service in the middle, but O’Reilly’s delivery is cut out. Bodo breathe again as a golden chance goes begging.
The hosts head into the break with a deserved lead after a near-perfect first half. They’ve defended with discipline, countered with purpose, and punished City with ruthless efficiency. Everyone expects a City response after the restart, but Bodo/Glimt have earned every bit of their advantage so far.
Back underway at Aspmyra with no changes from either side. City have dominated the ball, but the spark is still missing, and the Bodo back line remains well organised. You sense Doku, Marmoush or Aké won’t be far away as Guardiola looks for pace and penetration.
Bodo/Glimt think they’ve got a third, but the flag is up. Evjen strays just offside before slipping Høgh through, and although the finish over Donnarumma is neat, VAR confirms the decision. City survive another warning.
Absolute magic from Jens Petter Hauge, Bodo/Glimt lead 3–0! Rodri is robbed in midfield, Hauge glides past him with ease and then curls a stunning 25-yard effort into the top corner. Donnarumma is rooted. Pure brilliance. Aspmyra is in dreamland.
Manchester City pull one back! Cherki cuts inside and lets fly, his shot taking a slight deflection before sneaking into the bottom-left corner. Bodo’s clean sheet is gone, and suddenly, this contest has a pulse again.
Red card and Rodri is off. City’s captain sees two yellows in two minutes for breaking up Bodo counters, the second for hauling Blomberg back by the neck. No arguments there. City are down to ten men, and their mountain just got even steeper.
Bodo/Glimt are now in full control, calmly moving the ball and daring City to press. Even when possession is briefly lost, the hosts swarm back with energy to win it again. Space keeps opening on the flanks, and Sjovold earns another corner after Blomberg’s clever pass. Fresh legs arrive as Auklend, Saltnes and Helmersen make way for Blomberg, Evjen and Høgh, as the hosts look to see this out in style.
End-to-end drama. Bodo almost break three-on-two, but O’Reilly throws himself in to halt the move before Helmersen is flagged offside. City remain wide open at the back. Moments later, Cherki steals possession and drills in a teasing cross, only for O’Reilly to head straight at the keeper. The youngster knows that was a huge chance gone begging.
Aspmyra explodes as the hosts seal a famous night, surely the greatest victory in their history. Ruthless on the counter, fearless in defence, and crowned by Hauge’s stunning third goal, Bodo finally claim their first Champions League points and keep their qualification dream alive.
For City, it’s another bruising European setback. Guardiola heads straight to the officials in frustration, while Haaland, gracious in defeat, swaps shirts and walks over to applaud the travelling fans. A night to remember in Norway, for all the right reasons for Bodo/Glimt.
Thank you for joining.
