Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Highlights, Round 6 Day 2: Sarfaraz, Sudip Smash Double Ton; Gill Departs Cheaply

Group A: Yash Rathod scored century to rescue Vidarbha from a tough spot. They end the day on 250/7. Jharkhand dominated Uttar Pradesh with Sharandeep Singh scoring a century. Tamil Nadu finished the day on 281/7 following half-century from Pradosh Ranjan Paul. Baroda were comfortable against Nagaland as well.

Group B: 23 wickets tumbled on Day 1 in the Punjab vs Saurashtra match. Punjab scored 139 in reply of Saurashtra's 172. The latter ended the day on 24/3 in their second innings. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer's 87 drove Madhya Pradesh to 244/5. Maharashtra and Chandigarh dominated Goa and Kerala respectively on Day 1.

Group C: Sudeep Chatterjee's century, followed by Abhimanyu Easwaran's 81, helped Bengal get to a comfortable 340/4 against Services. Railways troubled Gujarat, bowling them out for 175 and finishing the day on 77/2. Swapnil Singh shined for Tripura against Uttarakhand and Assam struggled against Haryana.

Group D: Mumbai were rescued by Sarfaraz Khan and Siddhesh Lad as they produced a 249-run partnership and when stumps was called, Mumbai reached 342/4 against Hyderabad. Jammu and Kashmir bowled out Pondicherry for 233. Delhi scored 216 against Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Pukhraj Mann's century took Himachal Pradesh to 314/4.

Bengal ended day 1 at a score of 340/4, thanks to Sudip Chatterjee's century. At the start of today's play, Services have removed Sumanta Gupta for 36 runs.

Chhattisgarh are pursuing Delhi's 1st inning total of 216 which they were able to score on the back of Ayush Dodeja's 104 off 171.

Ayush Pandey and AG Tiwari are currently in the middle for a score of 77/0 off 29.3.

Himachal Pradesh are currently battering the Rajasthan bowlers as NR Gangta and Aryaman Dhaliwal are putting up a strong partnership for the 5th wicket. HP's innings was starred by none other than Pukhraj Mann who scored 118 off 179.

Despite a gritty, unbeaten 39 from Ravindra Jadeja, Saurashtra finds themselves stumbling at 168/6. While their effective lead of 205 runs feels like a match-winning cushion on this surface, the game remains precariously balanced as partners run thin for the veteran all-rounder.

The primary architect of Saurashtra’s frustration has been Harpreet Brar, who is putting on a masterclass in spin bowling. Brar has now claimed a sensational 10-wicket haul for the match—following up his six-wicket burst in the first innings with four scalps and counting in the second.

Sarfaraz Khan has smashed a sensational double century in Mumbai's 6th round tie against Hyderabad. His knock has helped the Mumbaikars post 533 runs on the board at the loss of 8 wickets.

Sarfaraz's knock ended at 227 off 219.

Bengal opening batter Sudip Chatterjee has also smashed his maiden first-class double century against Services at the Bengal Cricket Ground in Kalyani.

He got out for 209 off 327 and that has helped Bengal smash over 500 runs on day 2.

At the Alur Stadium in Bengaluru, Madhya Pradesh have been bowled out for 323 runs, thanks to Venkatesh Iyer's 87 and 30s from Rajat Patidar, Himanshu Mantri, Shubham Sharma and Saransh Jain.

Karnataka's pursuit has not started well as Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal got out for ducks whiile Karun Nair got out for just 12 runs.

Bihar has taken total control of the Plate Group final, racking up a massive 522 against Manipur. Captain Sakibul Gani (108) and Bipin Saurabh (143) led the charge. Since the winner of this final earns promotion to the Elite Division, Bihar simply needs to secure a first-innings lead to move up. They are now massive favorites to join India’s domestic top tier next season.

Punjab suffer an early blow, losing both openers cheaply before skipper Shubman Gill walks in and safely avoids a king’s pair. Chasing 264, Punjab are 49/2 after Saurashtra post 172 and 286, firmly holding the upper hand in the contest. Time for Gill vs Jadeja.

Not a best innings from the Indian Test captain Shubman Gill in the Punjab vs Saurashtra match second innings, as he departs for only 14. The pitch has remained challenging since Day 1 where he has scored a duck. This time too, he fails to manage a bigger score.

Delhi has been pushed back to a defensive position thanks to the centuries from Agrim Tiwary and Ayush Pandey. Pandey remains not out at 133 and is closing in on his half-century. The duo powers Delhi to 301/2 in 90 overs, helping them get a healthy 85-run lead in the first innings.

That's the end of Punjab's resistance against Saurashtra. In a raging turner at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the match ends in two days. It is Ravindra Jadeja and Prerak Mankad who made crucial contributions on Day 2, helping Saurashtra set a target of 320 runs in front of Punjab. Punjab got wrapped up for only 125.

An 82-run partnership between KV Aneesh and Shreyas Gopal comes to an end and with it, Karnataka sink deep in trouble against Madhya Pradesh. Responding to Madhya Pradesh's 323 in first innings, they are down to 142/6.

Uttar Pradesh are completely in shambles against Jharkhand. The latter have declared on a massive score of 561/6 and in reply, UP have finished Day 2 on a miserable 32/3. They are looking down at the barrel from this position.

Bengal has completely dominated Services in the first two days and are nearing a victory. Powered by Sudip Chatterjee's double century they posted 519 on the board. In response, Services are down at 126/8. Bengal will definitely want to enforce follow on in Day 3.

Uttar Pradesh are in absolute shambles against Jharkhand. In response to Jharkhand's 561/6d, they end day on 32/3. Tamil Nadu are eyeing a win against Odisha as they secure an 138-run lead in first innings. Meanwhile, Nagaland are trying to escape an innings defeat.

Group B: On expected lines, the Saurashtra vs Punjab match ended on Day 2 with Saurashtra securing a massive 194-run victory. Gill fell for 14 against Parth Bhuth once again. Dharmendrasingh Jadeja with the ball and Ravindra Jadeja with the bat made crucial contributions. MP have Karnataka in trouble as the latter are down to 168/8 against MP's 323 in first innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad powers Maharashtra to a 97-run lead against Goa. Manan Vohra's century had led Chandigarh to a massive 277-run lead against Kerala.

Group C: Bengal continue to dominate Services as the latter are nearing an inevitable follow on. They are down to 126/8 in response to Bengal's 519. Gujarat have conceded a 249-run lead to Railways. Meanwhile, Haryana tussle against Assam. In response to Assam's 247, they made their way to 164/3. Uttarakhand also achieved a lead against Tripura after recovering from 128/6 to reach to post 299/6.

Group D: The pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad continues to favour batters as Hyderabad start well, reaching 138/2 in response to Mumbai's 560 led by double centurion Sarfaraz Khan. Jammu and Kashmir keep hustling for a lead against Puducherry. Agrim Tiwary and Ayush Pandey score centuries for Delhi to push back Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan, meanwhile are down to 115/6 after Himachal Pradesh score 406.
