USA's Ben Shelton has successfully beaten homeboy Dane Sweeny in straight sets at the John Cain Arena by 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2.

Australia's Rinky Hijikata played out a classic game of Tennis against Poland's Valentin Vacherot. The game lasted for more than an hour and 4 sets with the Polish winning by 6-1, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2.

Italian opponents Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego had an extraordinary match as well which went down the wire. However, Musetti ultimately claimed victory in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4.

American star Ethan Quinn has pulled off a major upset by defeating the world No. 55 Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-1, to reach the third round of the 2026 Australian Open.

Serbian legend Novak Djokovic just defeated Italy's Francesco Maestrelli in straight sets by 6-3 and 6-2 in the final two sets.

Argentina's Sebastian Baez went down fighting against Italy's Luciano Darderi in a gruelling 4-set battle in Court 6. After winning the first set 6-3, Darderi lost the second by 6-1 before fighting back and winning the next sets by 6-4 and 6-3.

Amanda Anisimova, Peyton Stearns, Maddison Inglis, Elise Mertens, Linda Noskova, Wang Xinyu, Anna Kalinskaya, Karolina Pliskova, Jessica Pegula, Selekhmeteva and Madison Keys have all advanced to round 3.

Stan Wawrinka and Arthur Gea are playing out a thrilling match. The Frenchman has won the 1st and the 3rd set while the Swiss won the 2nd.

The journeyman's farewell campaign continues. Stan Wawrinka wins an intense five-set battle in tiebreak, beating Arthur Gea 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10) to become the first man aged 40 or above to enter the third round of a Grand Slam in singles since Ken Rosewall at the 1978 Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner proves just too good for James Duckworth, producing a serving masterclass to win 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 and zoom into the third round. The Italian defending champion meets United States' Eliot Spizzirri next.

Naomi Osaka is through to the third round. The Japanese former world number one edges past Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 and the pair barely exchanges handshakes at the end. Osaka later reveals that Cirstea told her there were "a lot of 'come ons' that she was angry about", which is why the animosity.

At the Rod Laver Arena, fifth seed Elena Rybakina eases past Russian-born French player Varvara Gracheva 7-5, 6-2 to enter the round. In another second-round women's singles match, 10th seed Belinda Bencic is knocked out by Czech opponent Nikola Bartunkova 3-6, 6-0, 4-6.

In the last singles match of Day 5, men's 12th seed Casper Ruud is taking on Spaniard Jaume Munar at the Margaret Court Arena. Ruud has taken the first set 6-3 and the second set is level at 4-4 currently.

Casper Ruud takes the second set 7-5 and is also leading the third 3-1 against Jaume Munar. The Norwegian is just three games away from booking his place in the third round.

It's a straight-sets victory for Casper Ruud, who dispatches Jaume Munar 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 to advance. The 12th seed next faces veteran Croatian Marin Cilic in the third round.
