And we are underway for the first set of this 3rd round encounter and the scores are level at the moment. Djokovic won the first game but Van De Zandschulp responded strongly to win the second game.
Delightful ace from Djokovic to make it 30-30 but even better from Zandshulp to gain advantage and get closer to winning the 2nd game. The Serbian is being challenged in the initial moments of the match.
Djokovic is finding his feet slowly in the game as he conquers the 4th game to make it 4-1.
It is 40-40 at the moment as the Dutchman looks to claim the 3rd game in the 1st set and he does so to make it 5-3. Djokovic is having some stiff competition here.
And the first set ends in favour of Novak Djokovic as the Serbian wins by 6-3 to go in front.
Now it is getting lopsided between Novak Djokovic and Van de Zandschulp as the Dutchman appears to be losing his confidence. He has a mountain to climb as the Serbian has taken a 3-0 lead in the 2nd set.
Botic Van De Zandschulp fights back and wins 2 games straight but does he have enough to stop Djokovic from winning the match? The Serbian goes to 40 and is one step away from going 4-2 up.
Djokovic is again in cruise control at the Rod Laver Arena, as he staves off van De Zandschulp's challenge in the second set to take it 6-4. The Serbian legend is well on his way to a record 400th Grand Slam win. The third set is on serve at 1-2 and Novak need five more games to get there.
The third set stays on serve at 5-4, and while Djokovic has not broken and is trailing, he knows he needs one opening or a string of good points in the tiebreak to complete a straight-sets victory.
Gritty play from the Serbian! After van De Zandschulp puts pressure on Djokovic's serve at 5-6, the latter survives two set points to force a tiebreak. It is now at 3-3, whoever gets to 7 points first (with a difference of two) takes the set.
And there it is! Djokovic pushes through in the tiebreak, producing the clutch play he is so well known for, in the tiebreak. The Serbian wins 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) against van De Zandschulp to not only enter the fourth round but also bring up his 400th Grand Slam match victory.
Novak Djokovic will next take the court on Monday, 26 January, for his fourth-round match. He will be up against the winner of the ongoing clash between Jakub Mensik of Czechia and USA’s Ethan Quinn.
